Local Fire Departments provide educational programs to children in Chatham County.  Savannah Fire Department operates a Fire Safety House provided through fund raising with Safe Kids Savannah in 1998.  Thousands of children have visited the house learning to 'crawl low and go' , 'get out and stay out' and 'find the meeting place'.  The Georgia Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner also brings a fire safety house that is used by other fire departments.
