Pedestrian Safety

Walk To School:  Each year Walk To School Day is celebrated the first Wednesday in October.  This event promotes families walking to school together and also advocates for safer routes to school.

Safe Routes to School:  Families and children are also encouraged to walk to school throughout the year to promote health and wellness. 

Through various funders Safe Kids Savannah members and other community agencies are working to develop safer routes to school through infrastructure projects, educational programs and enforcement in school zones of traffic laws.
